Certainly the big news from Convention today is the election of the Rt. Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, Bishop of Nevada, as our next Presiding Bishop. Election results are posted here, Doubtless, there will be plenty of news available soon on most of the Daily News from General Convention links, as well as in the secular press. The House of Deputies was totally surprised at the news when we were asked to consent to the election. But we trust our Bishops as insightful and wise spiritual guides, men and women who love our Church and seek for it strong and visionary leadership for the years ahead. Also, we had the opportunity to meet and to listen to Bishop Schori as our keynote speaker at last Fall's Diocesan Convention, and we came away impressed. I am delighted at the election, and I know that all of our prayers are with our Presiding Bishop-Elect in the days between now and her formal installation on November 4.As of this writing, the best place I have found to learn more about Bishop Schori is the News Centre of Anglicans Online.
For us Deputies, most of the Day, following Eucharist, was spent on the floor, doing the work in front of us and wondering what the House of Bishops was up to in nearby Trinity Church, where the election was held.

We spend most of our day listening to a number of speakers...
speaking on a number of issues.
