This will be the first page of what I hope will be many photographs from the 76th General Convention of the Episcopal Church in Anaheim, California. I will try to update this page, and the "How We See It" page, daily during Convention. It is my prayer that these pages will help our Diocese share with its Bishop and Deputies in the experience of General Convention, and that they will enrich all of us as we grow in appreciation of, and service through, this wonderful Church God has blessed us with.
Today was arrival day. While some of us got in last night, most are arriving today. The Hilton, where our deputation was assigned rooms, is right next door to the Convention Center, and I have a view of the roof of the Center, and of some of the taller rides in Disneyland, from my room. Both the Hotel and the Convention center are huge. The Hilton has 1,572 rooms, and mine is right at 100 yards from the elevator. The Convention Center is on three levels, which actually puts the major activities like the House of Deputies, the House of Bishops and the Exhibit Hall closer together than in either of the other Conventions I've attended.
|The Convention Center is an impressive place, and we will fill it up.||Registration for Deputies and Alternates started this morning.|
|The Meeting Rooms are still works in process. We'll be getting in tomorrow.||Meanwhile, the Hilton is filling up with Episcopalians.|
|And the Northwest Texas folks are starting to find one another.||Doubtless an abiding irony of this Convention will be its location next door to Disneyland.|
