There were two Episcopal Addresses to the 48th Annual Convention of the Diocese of Northwest Texas, which met October 27-29 in Abilene.

At the center of these was Bishop Ohl's Charge to Convention, delivered on the floor of Convention on Saturday, October 28.

Bishop Ohl also preached the Sermon at the Convention Eucharist and Ordination, Sunday, October 29.

Our Guest Speaker at Convention was the Very. Rev. Philip Turner, Interim Dean and President of the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. His Speaker's Address on Saturday is well worth reading. For an audio version of his Friday night Evensong Sermon, click here.

The convention also dealt with a few Resolutions, including:

A Resolution on Apportionment, which failed to pass; and

A Resolution on the Millennium Development Goals, which passed slightly amended.

Also passed was a Resolution establishing an Ad Hoc Commission on Reconciliation.

Other business at the October, 2006 Convention included the Bishop's Appointments and Results of Deanery Elections.
