Welcome to the Web Pages of the Diocesan Nominating Committee
On April 25, 2007, the Rt. Rev. Wallis Ohl, Fourth Bishop of the Diocese of Northwest Texas, announced his retirement and called for an election of a new Diocesan Bishop. That letter can be found here. Since that time, the Deaneries of the Diocese and our Standing Committee have selected members of a Nominating Committee to solicit and to screen potential candidates for our next Bishop. The date for the election is May 3, 2008, and Bishop Ohl will retire when the new Bishop is Consecrated at Diocesan Convention, October 31--November 2, 2008.
These pages are offered to the Diocese in order to keep you informed of our process, and to ask your prayerful participation with us in this task of discernment. First, we ask your regular, disciplined, prayer for us, for all who participate in this process, and for our Bishop, Wallis, and our Diocese in this time of transition.
Second, we hope that this information will both provide helpful information and answer many of your questions. For obvious reasons, we will not be able to discuss the particular individuals involved in our process. However, we will try to answer other questions you may have about this process, either here or directly. You can E-Mail Mr. Cliff Craig, Chair of the Nominating Committee, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, we do ask your suggestions both for ways this site can be more helpful to you and for other ways the Nominating Committee can keep our Diocese informed of its work.
Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look
graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a
bishop for this Diocese,
that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
